TYPES

TYPE I

Type I ambulances are some of the largest ambulance options available. These vehicles have a square patient compartment and are mounted on a large, truck-like chassis. Most heavy-duty ambulances are of this type. Type I ambulances are often found at airports, chemical plants, oil refineries, and other locations that require ambulances to be equipped with medical equipment for Advanced Life Support.

With your choice of a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy chassis, ARV can provide you with the power and dependability that you need in a custom built modular ambulance. With the safest modular body in the industry and countless options available, we can ensure our ambulances will provide you with assurance and comfort while catering to your department’s needs.

Type I ambulances are available in different types of powertrains (such as 2- or 4-wheel drive) and come with a variety of feature options, regardless of the chassis you choose. Many ambulance features are added on after the chassis is built, and we will work with you to customize your vehicle to have all the features you’re looking for.

TYPE III

Arguably the most versatile type of ambulance, Type III combines the unlimited options of Type I with the economic benefits of Type II. Wide, narrow, short, or long modular bodies are built with the same safety standards as the type I’s, greatly exceeding what is required. Type III’s can be on a Mercedes Sprinter, Ford, or Chevrolet cutaway vans.

Type III ambulances are very similar to type I; but, unlike type I, type III ambulances are mounted on a cutaway van chassis rather than having a truck style body. Type III vehicles are mostly used at airports, chemical plants, oil refineries, and when the ambulance has to be equipped with the medical equipment for Advanced Life Support.

FRISTAR AMBULANCE

Type III Firstar

Type II Firstar

4X4 AMBULANCE

Parts of the United States receive well over 200 inches of snowfall every winter season. Navigating roads that are snow-filled, icy, or wet can be both difficult and dangerous. As an emergency response vehicle, it is necessary to be able to depend on an ambulance to travel from point A to point B without any trouble. A four-wheel-drive ambulance enables first responders to travel in all weather elements without worry.

A 4×4 ambulance provides versatility and reliability to response teams and communities who are exposed to a variety of difficult to travel conditions. By being equipped with a high-powered drivetrain that powers four wheels with equal amounts of torque, an ambulance is then able to perform better in low-traction conditions. While four-wheel-drive does cater well to snowy conditions, a 4×4 ambulance is also valuable in mud, loose gravel, and sandy conditions — making this type of ambulance a popular choice for communities in rural areas.

Here at American Response Vehicles, we offer a selection of both new and used 4×4 ambulances for sale. Offering capable vehicles that can handle both extreme weather conditions and fulfill the necessary functions of an emergency response vehicle is our top priority with our inventory.

Aside from our wide selection, we also offer a variety of modification packages in order to ensure you buy the best vehicle for your situation. We are able to alter body styles to fit your desired dimensions, in addition to providing customized wrap design for your ambulance.

Check out our current selection of 4×4 ambulances for sale, or contact us with any questions or requests to best fulfill your ambulance buying experience.

MEDIUM-DUTY AMBULANCE

Medium-duty ambulances are constructed for those who require more out of their emergency response vehicles. With superior build quality, these ambulances are prepared to respond to any call. Whether for EMS, fire departments, or any other response needs, medium-duty ambulances are prepared to fulfill your needs.

What separates medium-duty ambulances from other options is the flexibility that comes with them. These chassis models are fully customizable, giving hospitals, emergency response departments, and others the ability to tailor the ambulance to their specific needs. Medium-duty ambulances are generally larger than their other counterparts, providing ample room for storage, and more capacity for transporting patients and larger response crews. These models range in length anywhere from 160” to 172” and 95” wide. Additionally, medium-duty ambulances provide extra headroom to move about the cabin more easily, (between 72” to 75”). A medium-duty ambulance is the perfect all-around ambulance to fit any situation and provide users with the flexibility to fill out their response vehicle with the necessary additions.

Our selection of ambulances here at NorthWestern Emergency Vehicles is both expansive and affordable. With the ability to help create or locate the best ambulance for your needs, we encourage you to contact us to aid in your response vehicle search. We are also proud to offer nationwide shipping!

FREIGHT-LINER AMBULANCE

These large chassis ambulances are specifically designed to hold more equipment and personnel for emergency situations. With modules that can reach 170’’, Freightliner ambulances provide response teams with ample room to administer various life support tasks.

These “do-it-all” ambulances give teams the dependability and functionality to carry out any job, in any environment. With ample headroom and a wide-body style, transporting or providing basic life support services to multiple patients isn’t a problem. Freightliner ambulances are great options for rural communities who need to reach individuals in areas that stretch beyond paved roads, or urban communities who need to quickly provide care to multiple individuals.

With several chassis models available, Freightliner ambulances offer loads of customization. From additions like Stryker cot mounts to squad bench seating to 4×4 drivetrains, tailoring a Freightliner ambulance to your exact needs makes these emergency response vehicles great options for any hospital or city department.
